However I now just get a striped screen (I've had a similar problem with old cards when they are overheating, could it be an overheat problem?).Īny help or advice you could offer would really be appreciated, I've had problems with this card since I bought it and am contemplating just saving up for a new one, although I feel that would be a waste of this one :/ĪTI cards sadly are designed to run quite hot, so may be overheating issiue, or the drives make it run to hot. This appeared to solve the black screen issue.

Just to make sure, I uninstalled the previous drivers first, then installed the 32-bit version of the one you linked. I followed your advice on installing the drivers you linked (except I installed the 32-bit version). Hey I'm also having problems with the Radeon 4850. Would appreciated replies knowing if it works or not for you else with this kind of issue. I originally posted this in an old Ati black screen crash issue thread, (found here: ) but felt like making a new thread as well to ensure it becomes seen for all unlucky who been suffering by this issue for so long. (Considering iv had this for months now, so im happy to finally being able to enjoy the few unplayable games iv had.)

I truly hope this fixes it for all with this series of cards black screen issues. (did the testing in windowed mode and in lowest settings, but i played for over an hour and no crash whatsoever.) This solved it for me, now MNC works, Dungeon Defenders works, Trine 2 works, everything basically.

I use a licensed program called Driver Cleaner.NET, there is a trial of it as well, so feel free using it yourself for the job, just remember to follow the instructions in the help file.) (Keep in mind i nuked EVERYTHING ATI and Nvidia related form my OS HDD, that including all leftovers in System32 and all registry files. So it's the laptop display that seems to only work with the Microsoft Basic Render Driver.I tried go back to the latest known perfectly working drives ever used on my ATI Radeon 4850 HD card CCC 10.1Beta (64-Bit) and the latest known not-crippling Phys-X. One last this I find that's strange is when I plug in an external display, it comes up as the Nvidia driver. Tried installing first the Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630 driver and then the nvidia driver Tried installing drivers directly from HP Tried sfc /scannow and there were no issues shown Tried reinstalling the Nvidia and also tried the Display Driver Uninstaller tool by Guru3D to uninstall the old driver The interesting this is that device manager shows the nvidia driver and the intel 630 driver (which of course is disabled). Checking DirectX Diagnostic Tool and Advanced display setting, the same thing shows up. When I look at the error, it shows "Microsoft Basic Render Driver". However, it was nice enough to inform me that my GPU is insufficient.

I also tried a different game and this one had the same issue. At that point, I think all is well.Īt this point when trying to run the game it was super laggy (as in 1 frame per second).

I then disabled the UHD Graphics 630 in the device manager. This is shown in DirectX Diagnostic Tool along with the advanced display settings. It turns out that the Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630 was being used rather than the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 ti driver. I finally discovered what the problem was. Of course, none of these suggestions fix the issue. If not that, then try changing the resolution in the file's options or change it to windowed mode. I did find multiple threads on steam relating to that error and it suggested I try deleting the options.txt file for the game itself so it could be recreated. When attempting to launch the game, I would get a Direct3D Initialization Error.

This problem just started recently and I don't know if it's because of an update or something else that happened. I am having problems with my wife's laptop which is preventing it from playing 95% of games.
